There are tutorials and lessons within FS itself.

Perhaps he's posted from a pilot-less aircraft - This could be an urgent request for assistance!  :o

First I'd suggest that you try the Flight Lessons in the sim. If you are impatient you can just do the one on landing but there are some important concepts there to learn. Start out with the Cessna and work your way up to larger and more complex aircraft.

After you've done that then you might want to take a look at some of the online tutorials and resources. Most of those are more advanced and meant for large planes, Auto Pilot landings and special circumstances.

Yes, it's possible to have the AP do most of the work. It can fly you almost right down to the runway (some airports however you'll still have to do it by hand) but you will still have to flair for yourself and if you learn the basics of landing an aircraft then you may want to fly your own approaches even in the bigger jets. Believe me it's worth taking the lessons in the sim when you grease a landing in a 777-300 without help from the AP.

...And by all means complete every flight lesson and take the certification flight at the end.  It will seem challenging for someone just starting to fly seriously, but hey, it's a cool flight, with a voice telling you what to do next and not cutting you any slack and you get to print the certificate at the end of the successful "final exam" flight.

I actually framed mine until my wife made me take it down 'cuz she thought the whole thing was "geeky".  What does she expect?  I am a geek.  A geek who can fly a plane!

In the "real world"  you'd spend big bucks and will do a lot of studying before you'd get your first minutes at the controls.  Treat flight sim like the real thing and you'll learn a lot.

Stay with these forums, my friend.  There are a lot of good, friendly people who are here to help.  Remember, the only stupid question is the one you don't ask.  Folks here are very patient.

Good luck!

H

Just remember, flying a plane is just like riding a bicycle.  It's just a lot harder to put wheels in the spokes!   ;D

And stop calling me Shirley!  ;)
