Third party sceneries & FPS!

Postby Roberto » Sat Nov 27, 2004 4:57 pm

Here's another begginers Q'

I'm currently installing a couple of meshes that cover some area. I've noticed that some meshes (areas overlap each other. Can such things and sceneries influence frame rates.

I'm not talking about very complex and realistic sceneries with cars, trucks, buildings, people, dogs, and the dog s... on the grass, ...  ;D  (that's understandable that FPS will be drop in such cases)

Can basic sceneries highly influence FPS.

Unless you are living with the bare minimum computer then most minor sceneries have little impact on performance but you have to remember that every scenery in addition to the standard will have some impact. It really depends on the level of detail the scenery designer creates. On most systems however if you have the sim set up properly then you can get some extremely nice sceneries without having to watch a slide show.

Roberto,

I noticed that when I installed it the FS Genesis terrain mesh for the USA actuall gave me better framerates than the default mesh.  Even though it is finer resolution on the elevation data.

best,
