Stupid things you can only do in sim-world

Postby Chris_F » Tue Nov 09, 2004 11:02 am

Here are some of the stupid things I like to do in sim-world that just wouldn't turn out well in real life:

1)  Pick a random airport somewhere in the world and, without knowing where you are, try to navigate to a major city before you run out of fuel.  No fair using the map or radio!

2)  Take a big plane and land at a small airport.  For example, there's this little airport near here (Peprell, MA, USA)  that's a challenge for small GA type planes as the runway is short and the approach requires you to thread the needle between some hills and trees.  It's even more of a challenge in a 737.

3)  Take off, get some altitude, shut off the engines and try to put the plane somewhere that doesn't involve the dreaded "Crash" banner on the bottom of the screen.

4)  Go canyon carving through the middle of cities in the Extra or Piper.

Anyone have other good examples of stuff that's fun in MSFS but not so fun in real life?

I have said this before.
But when I get really bored I like to jump into one of my B747's then go track down AI aircraft and try to hit them in mid air. The cessnas and the money's are the hardest to hit. It is not as easy as one thinks it is trying to hit something moving that slow with something that big.
And it is no fair getting behind them and running them over. That is to easy try diving on them or hitting them from the side. 8)

hehe...

another one...

activate "slew" mode
switch time compression to "fastest"
and pull your stick forward.. for about 1 or 2 minutes

when deactivateing this "hyperspace jump" you will find yourself flying in a world full of nothing (at least on my machine).

Turn off damage and fly with unlimited fuel as well.

Now if I can find unlimited high octane fuel for my car

Why do you guys always pick on me? I mean what is wrong with flying inverted along 5th Ave.? Okay so I scared a few people, but heck Merlin engines are noisy!
And frankly I feel all heavies should be flown inverted under bridges just because it breaks the monotony ;D

lol

I subscribe to number 2...

Ever tried to land successfully and An 225 in the airport of Reggio Calabria (LICR) without cheating somehow?  No?  Well, lighten up, I still haven't either, and I'm Italian.  :-[ ;D ;D

...and number 3...

Never being able to do this with a heavie.  Small crafts, no problem, but step up to something bigger than a cessna and... CRASH.  :'(

In time I tried 1 and 4 too, of course, but didn't find them particularly interesting, so I quit.  :P ;)
There's but one real cure for human stupidity. It's called DEATH.

Fly in a winter wonderland after you just took off from an airport somewhere in the Sahara desert.

One can also open the doors in flight and throw out that back seat driver!

Fly a Jet fighter in the mountains with the Vis less than a 1/2 mile no slower than 400 knots and try not to hit a dead end.
