Problem with takeoff/landing roll

Here's what I have:

Dell Inspiron 5150
3.06 GHz Pentium 4
768 mb of RAM
64mb Nvidia GeForce FX Go5200

FPS at time of problem: 20-30 FPS.

I am using a Meljet 777-300ER in World Tour livery and whenever I go to JFK, EWR, HPN, MIA, TNCA (Aruba) and TNCM (St. Martin) and almost any airport, everytime I do a takeoff roll, from the point where airspeed becomes alive to say 150 knots, it goes very slow but my FPS remains high (doesn't go below 20 FPS and stays within 40 FPS) and the engine parameters shows it's still at full throttle, the view of the runway from the cockpit or in spot view, looks like it's speeding up, then around 70 knots it looks like it's going slow all of a sudden say like 20mph then when i wait and it reaches 110+ knots, after that I rotate and it lags again but the FPS shows fine performance, it returns to normal when I'm above 3 to 4,000 ft above ground.  The same stuff happens on apporach and landing making it hard to gauge if it needs power boost before touchdown to maintain airspeed.

No matter what aircraft I use, it's the same problem. Even occurs with the LearJet 45, the 777-200ER, Beech starship, Cessna 172.

I even changed hardware display resolution, chagned texture size, details, effects and still the same problem.
It's like it's not the video performance but like the system or the program itself.  It's hard to explain, other than this was the best I can come up with, it'd take a video to clearly show what I'm trying to explain.

Does anyone know what's the problem?

I am just wondering, is your hard-drive cranking away when this happens? Listen to it and see. If it is, that will do it, I get the same thing when I have my textures for my FSD Navajo load up, but it only takes 2 seconds.

Set your target frame rate to 20. That way FS will only show 20 fps and concentrate more on the detail.

Remeber, the human eye can only see 14fps anyhow.

hard-drive not cranking away as I can see, the indicator light flashes sometimes but doesn't stay on constantly like it does when the program loads.

I even set the target frame rate to 20 FPS and it's still doing the same thing.

Like start the takeoff roll, it speeds up but the runway/ground slows down big time then speeds up after a few seconds then does this over and over unless I'm high in the air.

I even experimited with all the settings available in the display properties and none works to my avail.

What else to try?

Midnight,

Try turning off the AI altogether and see what that does.

best,

That worked!  Now I can focus more on the fine details of max climb and landing  :)

What a major hog the AI does.

I had a similar problem with my AI, I had loads of Project AI aircraft installed, and AI set to 100%. during one flight I came onto aproach at EGLL (heathrow) and FS nearly stopped!

You should be able to get away with having some AI on if you want, i run mine at over 50% but never at 100%

As a matter of fact, I had AI set to 50% before I set it to 0%

oh, ok  :o my system specs are less than yours, but i usually run the scenery quite sparcely. Having that set high can contribute to slowing down the sim too.

I managed to disable all traffic in FS2004 and I still get the suttering performance whenever I'm close to the ground or on apporach to touchdown and even while still taxing.  The harddrive isn't cranking away, I checked the task manager and all I see is FS2004 doing the work and no other unnesscary .exe were running. I don't know what is wrong with it, it seems like the program itself.  I even did the tweaks and it still does it no matter what.

Not true.  The commonly accepted rate is about 20, but film runs at one of two speeds.  Film in the US is run at NTSC speeds of 29.97 fps, whereas film in Europe is PAL formatted, which is 25 fps.

Between 20 and 30 is a safe bet anyway...
