Terrain map problems

Postby Chris_F » Tue Nov 23, 2004 7:58 am

I've got a problem that perhaps you folks can help with.  I've tried a couple of terrain maps and have settled on the pay-ware USA map from Abacus.  In the meantime I DL'd a bunch of maps from various sources including some of the Alaska maps from this site.  When I installed the Abacus map I was so happy with it that I deleted my old Alaska map.  Now when I fly over certain parts of Alaska the terrain disappears.  This only occurs when I get close to the terrain: the terrain in the distance appears normal but as I approach it suddenly flattens out.

I assume this is because FS is looking for my old Alaska maps which I deleted.  Is there a way to "repoint" FS to the new Abacus maps for those areas?  I assume FS keeps some sort of database on which maps go where since every time I install a map it gives me a "rebuilding terrain database" message on startup.  My guess is I need to rebuild this database, possibly by simply finding it and deleting it and then maybe re-installing the Abacus map.
