Hi, How does one pull up the Atis during a Flight? I an flying through remote part of canada and I would like to know weather report. Thank you, jakob

Look on the MAP by hitting the Alt key for the menu (it's under world).  The compass Icon on the Panel also brings it up.  Look for neaby airports that have an ATIS or other form of automated weather (ASOS I think is an acronym for such a thing...)

It's AWOS (Automated Weather Observation Service)  ;)

Bring up the ATC window...click the "earphones" icon on the panel or press the accent key (') and select the nearest airport then you should get a choice to either tune in the tower or the ATIS and according to your settings it will be displayed in some way..I have a sort of running script accross the top of the monitor..any help? Commoner...

Well, the problem is with the ` key, is the nearest airport in places like where he is usually don't have weather repoting of any sort, so you would have to go through many selections (if there are any near you) in hopes of finding one that gives you an ATIS availability.

What would I do?

I'd figure out where I was going, use the map feature and find all airports along my approximate route, then find which ones have ATIS, then write down all the pertinant information of all those airports on my homemade airport information sheet on my clipboard. I also have things like runway length, airport elevation, ILS freq for each runway, and ILS headings, nearby VOR's NDB's and ADF's. I like to have as much navigational information possible wherever I fly. Of course I have all of the Kenai/Anchorage information memorized, but I still have a sheet for that, and a sectional chart daboot.    :o

I think it is, if you're up to spending a bit, get FSNAV...invaluable for such things (and it doesn't inturrupt your flight to look at it!)

Once you get an ATIS or AWOS frequency, you can dial it into Com 2 if available, and switch over to that frequency to listen.  Then you can switch back to control when you are done listening.

Hi, Thanks gentlemen for all you help. I was flying out through canada looking at the beautiful snowcapped moutains and lakes and even though I am far out, there is plenty of AI traffic and I did use your tips for Atis and I did get my weather reports! I took some nice shots as the sun was going down and will try to post in the screenshot forum soon. Thanks again, jakob
