Well I am actually using a Laptop to fly!! hmmm the specs are as follows,
Intel Pentium M 715 processor 1.5Ghz
ATI Radeon 9700/64MB
Everything is still smooth, but when the sky get busier, I think i would see some lag... hmmm also when I add on scenary its startin to lag.
Hmmmm but base on my specs actually am I more then enough??
Thanks

Dude avoid any ATI card that ends with SE. They are not good! ideally you want a PRO or XT ATI card, i.e. :
9800Pro
9800XT
Do not get the SE cards.

Georf,
Don't want to "burst your bubble", but the odds on it running very well with any of the features you are buying activated are pretty slim, in my opinion.
See my machine specs on the trailer... and I have trouble getting 15 fps on short final into an international airport with sliders almost but not completely maxed and AI on 100%.
If you don;t mind low level graphics, and turning a lot of stuff down or off... then I am sure you can get it to "run"......... but why pay for stuff you can't use?
Maybe start putting pennies in the cookie jar for a new machine instead?
best,
.................john

And theres my brother saying it will run fine
Ill just have to stick with fs2002 then
"then I am sure you can get it to "run" "
And by that you mean you can get it to play but unbearbly slow ?

commoner,
Well..... thanks for the thought that something is wrong.... however, this has all been "said and done before"..... so I suggest that you might also read the voluminous old threads about fps and fs2004.

Great post John and I agree with (almost) all that you say.....not sure that we should "not go over this again" is quite right. I agree that there are loads of threads on it but new input is surely always welcome...we learn as we go and find out things that frankly were just not true said in some posts from "yonks" ago.
I also think that the "flying" versus "graphics" is a matter of choice ....we have to compromise. Maybe you agree that is is maybe unfair on Microsoft to expect smooth graphics when one has hung tens of gigabytes of "eye candy" on to the program. That doesn't help eh? I won't get better either because as soon as the PC specs go up so does the fancy software! That has happened ever since I used to do flight simming on a Sinclair Spectrum with 48k of memory .....if you don't remember that you will never appreciate what you have now
I Say again ..great post..see you ..commoner

Keep asking yourself ....what you want to see....2002 will fly the planes I have no doubt but what do you call "fine" All I could honestly say is that it would fly "in a fashion" it wouldn't as John said be "anything near what you want to experience" that's a fact.
But in the words of...well sombody said it...you pays yer money and takes yer chance..........
