Clearence Levels

Ok its been years since I last posted hereaand I am getting back into FS.
One problem I have is with ATC clearence levels. It is really annoying when you are cleared to FL130 and as you approach that level with about 200ft to go the aircraft starts to level out and then you get cleared to the next level causing the aircraft to lurch upwards again. Highly unrealistic.
Does anyone know how to get around this?

Actually ATC in the real world does this to us all the time.

Another way around this is to wait until your plane is at the old altitude before entering the new one. I have never seen my vertical speed go to 2000 ft per min on any plane I have in my fleet. About the only planes not in my fleet are military craft and I only have 1 airbus.
So I do not know what plane Bnl2001 is using.
You can also modify the aircraft cfg file to a slower rate of climb. But if you do so you will probably have to alter it to allow you to climb to the assigned altitude quick enough.

It is helfpful to fly mostly with the top-notch commercial and freeware selections that have had realworld pilot input into the design process. Chances are these planes have realistic POH, Checks, and reference speeds. I myself though have not dealt with an FS imposed 2,000 fpm setting. Lordy, there are planes that would stall in a NY minute if they try to maintain that (Cub). But, every plane has an optimum climb out speed. The neet thing about having the realistic numbers along with the realistic modeling is not only the immersion factor but that if followed a successful flight is assured.

The reason I ask is I mainly fly the Koch Media Concorde and I know that the real world ATC behave this way but they clear you to the next level about 2000ft before or even clear you to your cruise altitude.

Happens to me all the time in RW, although it's usually on the descent, because 99% of the time I get cleared all the way to cruise alt. In fact Friday I was coming in to KJKA in a Navajo, and the lady (she was pretty nice, just a little slow) waited just long enought for each clearance that we would go down 2000 feet at 500fpm, just get leveled off, and she'd clear us down another 2000 feet.
Oh well, it happens.

You get cleared to your next FL approximately 200ft before reaching your current one, and the FS ATC are a bit slow. Sometimes I just increase the FL myself to avoid levelling out. But my recent solution to this was to use EditVoicePack's new accelerated voicepack. This speeds up -all- the ATC, so they say it quicker and you can get on with climbing.

Yea, that's one thing about fs ATC, they talk too slow. Anyone who's heard a real controller, be it ATC, a tower, whatever, knows they talk pretty fast.

Another way around this, although unrealistic, is to put in your final altitude and just accept the clearances up to it, that way you don't get the lurching. Keep a lower fpm climb rate or if you go above an altitude without clearnce, you'll have to go back down to it before you can ascend again.

I've tried that, they just yell at me to stop climbing before they give me my next ascent order.

Don't get married :-*
Now that was a good one...

Anyways, as for ATC giving you another climb when you've reached the initial climb, normally, that is bad timing, or a missed handoff. I know in the world of VATSIM, my Approach/Departure sector ceiling is 16,000, I begin a handoff at 10-12k so that we can have them reach center by 12,500-13,500 and ensure a smooth climb. If FS ATC was better, we'd have better climbs, but like said, it usally is also a problem with the flight dynamics of the aircraft. Try and pick up the planes that have been tested and approved by real world pilots.
