Problem with AI Manual Input - Please Help!

Hi everyone

I've got a problem. Perhaps I've tried to be a bit clever and it's backfired, but see if you can help me.

I'm trying to add an AI A321 into my fs2004. I've created a A321 folder in the aircraft folder. In the former I've created (i) a texture ('texture.321') folder (containing 2 bitmaps), (ii) a model folder ('model.321') containing a model.cfg file and 321.mdl file, (iii) a sound folder, and (iv) a aircraft.cfg file.

In the aircraft.cfg file the title is named as in the aircraft text file, the model is =321 and the texture is =321. I've named the aircraft #60 and added a flight plan for it which I've then complied using TTools. However, when I go to the start airport the aircraft never appears. Where am I going wrong?

What's an .air file and should I have one of those in the A321 folder too? If so, where can I find one for an A321.

Sorry for this lengthy message. Perhaps I should have left it as it was and done nothing!

Cheers for any help you can offer me.

Hello! AI can be a tricky thing.  PS, this post will be moved to the AI subforum (TTools and AFCad).

The .air file contains handling data all those little bits. If you don't have one for the particular aircraft, you can make a copy of the default 737-400.air file and put it in the folder.  In the aircraft.cfg, you'll have to add this line:

sim=737-400.air

I've had my share of problems when it comes to AI not showing up, so I can't really help you there, but hopefully adding the .air file will work.

And if this doesn't solve the problem can you think of any other solutions?

does the starting AIRPORT have PARKING available? and are you looking at the right TIME ie gmt or international time as in the flight plan?
