AI aircraft bust 250 limit

Postby beefhole » Tue Nov 02, 2004 10:13 pm

I pull into DFW the other night and it's really late, both in real life and the game, and I decide why not ctrl+w(this pulls up a new window that follows planes in the area) that  plane taxiing for takeoff over there.  Well, I followed it through takeoff with the shift+z bar up and watched the airspeed.  He was at 300 KIAS by 4,000 ft.  Ha, I had no idea the AI so blatantly disreagarded FAA regulations.  Any other examples?

have you ever seen the AI's LANDING?

i wouldn't want to be inside one of those when they try that

what they do is flare off about 100 feet above the runway, and then when they are way past the touchdown mark, they plummit nose first into the ground and screech their way into a complete stop... it's really scary ;D ;D ;D

also have you noticed that the noise they make doesn't ever change? even when they take off they still make an idle sound

Ha, I never noticed that-I've noticed the seat-of-the-pants landings but not the idle sound, now that I think of it I guess you're right, the engines thrust never really does change.

They still use the same sound but there's an add on that gives the AI planes a doppler sound. Sounds great when you are sitting beside the runway AI watching. You can also hear it when they taxi past while you are setting up your cockpit. You'll have to do a search for it though because I don't remember where I found it. Try here and at the other places.

The AI isn't doing a bad job of flying :-/   ::) but a good job of slewing, since when can an MD-80 do a 5000fpm T/O climb ???

Ha, yea the prop pilots are TERRIBLE.  They bounce their landings almost every single time.  And btw, just so we're clear, I'm aware disreagarded is spelled disregarded, I'm just too lazy to mod it.  8) Figured I'd get that one out of the way.

I've seen a Cessna 182 climb to cruise Alt. at what seemed like 10,000fpm before and I've seen a 737 cruise at 1,900kts. Yep, AI does odd things sometimes.
