???  I'm sure this has been covered previously but a search didn't find an answer. Where is the "fsedit" in fs9?

Forget FSEdit! :P

Any modification you need to do to FS aircraft can be accomplished using two programs.

Notepad - for anything with the suffix *.cfg

AirEd - for editing airfiles

I say don't use FSEdit simply because it was a shoddy program in 2k2, and I haven't even tried it in 2k4.  Most people can do the stuff that needs to be done (adding repaints, etc) simply by using Notepad.  And when you get into the real nuts and bolts of aircraft editing, you can get AirEd (freeware found on most FS sites) to edit the airfiles.

I agree 100% with Ender. If you really want the FS9 version of FSEdit you can get it here. (FSEdit SDK) http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/fs2004_downloads_sdk.asp
I haven't tried as I have no use for it. I imagine it's just as buggy as the one included with FS2000 & FS2002 Pro. ::)

As AirEd is no longer supported then AAM is a better bet. AirEd.ini is still used and should be kept up to date from Herve's site.

You can also get AAM from there.

I'm no good at FD editng but I have tried AAM. I believe you need FSEdit installed to use some of the later features.

I don't know what Dodger wants it for but some people used FSEdit to install 3rd party aircraft to FS2002. They're now lost when it comes to doing the same in FS9. I still think the good old-fashioned manual install is by far the best method. It's not difficult once you understand the basic principle & usually quicker than alternative methods.

Thanks, folks. Hagar, I pretty much agree with you re: manual install; I had occasionally needed to use FS Edit in FS2002 to activate some 3rd party a/c and was having a problem doing so with a recent download for FS9, which is when I realized the edit feature didn't exist as such. (I do use  .cfg to actually modify a/c) Turned  out to be an error on my part and I managed to fix that. But, many thanks to all of you for your input regarding that feature.                                                     Cheers, Paul
