Default Learjet

Postby mark_av » Tue Oct 26, 2004 9:40 am

Greetings all!  Long time reader, first time poster.  Thanks for everything you do to help make our hobby even better.

I have my default flight set up for a cold and dark aircraft so that I can run through the startup checklists without Ctrl-E.  However, on the default Learjet, I can't seem to find the avionics switch.

Am I missing something, or was it just left off?

Thanks again for the tremendous wealth of advice and guidance that can be found in this forum.

This is not the only plane without this switch.
You could add it if you wanted to but you will need CFGEDIT which is freeware, or FS PANEL DESIGN which is payware. There is not a whole lot of differance between the two. The main differance is that FS PANEL DESIGN will allow you to edit XML gauges CFGEDIT will not. 8)

My solution was to edit panel.cfg - just open it with notepad, you don't need to know what you're doing - and add this line to the end of (Window00)

gauge37=737-400!Avionics Master Switch,  50,104,15,9

(you may need to change the gauge number from 37 to whatever the next available gauge number is)

This will add a small square just above your AOA indicator, which is the avionics switch.  If you get CfgEdit you can probably find a prettier gauge that will work just as well.

Granted that will work the only problem is that the gauge might pop up somwplace you do not want it to.
By uisng cfgedit you can place it where you want to.

Just checking out the cfgedit download page, and it mentions no support for FS2004.  Is this just the company trying to play it safe?

I do not think so this program was made for fs2002 but I have read several post in this forum of people that use it for fs2004 . I use the FS PANEL DESIGN because I wanted to be able to edit and make new XML gauges & cfgedit will not read or allow you to edit these gauges.
Double check with EDGE or ROLLERBALL but I am almost certain that cfgedit can be use for FS2004.

CfgEdit works fine with FS9 but cannot handle XML gauges. There's a simple way over it but this involves a basic knowledge of panel design. As this is for a default panel it might not be ideal. Webb's manual edit should do the trick.

The Bell gauge looks a lot better.  Try this to get a better fit:

gaugeXX=Bell_206B!Avionics Switch,  48,98,15

(the 4th variable is not needed)

Thanx Hagar I will check it out, sounds useful, since I have edited some of my own panels, added switches etc, to them, mostly by trial and error, and going back into the panel cfg a LOT.... :o
