FS2004 9.1 uninstall re-install problem

I had a stock FS2004 patched for 9.1.  Then, in trying to solve a video problem I uninstalled FS2004 (add remove programs) and reinstalled it.  Of course it reverted to 9.0.  I then tried to install the patch to bring it up to date and got a message that it is already patched and it wouldn't proceed with the patch install.  A check of the version number in the program is 9.0 (of course).  Am I doomed to not being able to patch it to version 9.1?

I'd say this is a huge oversight on the part of Microsoft, but what's new?

Advice to fix this would be appreciated.  Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve. I think this explains your problem. If the update is still on your Add/Remove Programs list you could try uninstalling it & see what happens. It might be better to contact M$ Support first.
Removing Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight after updating -
To uninstall Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight after installing the update, you must first uninstall the update, and then uninstall Flight Simulator.

To uninstall the updated Flight Simulator:

Uninstall the update following the procedures outlined in How to Uninstall the Update.
Then uninstall Flight Simulator 2004: A Century Flight.

I didn't install the update myself but I read all the instructions & comments on the download page. http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/fs2004_update9.1_english.asp#overview
This is one of the reasons I didn't bother with it.

Hagar,

I thought real men didn't read structions....

I looked at the link you sent and went through the patch uninstall and then I was able to reinstall it and bring the new FS2004 install up to date as 9.1.

Thank you very much for your help.

Steve

Glad you fixed it Steve.

Hagar, I thought real men didn't read structions....

Well, I was man last time I checked. As to whether I'm a real one or not you must judge for yourself, or ask my ex. ::) ;)

I always RTFM, especially where M$ is involved. It's saved me a lot of hassle over the years.
