Hi, If you want to make a flight from LaGaurdia in New York to New Haven, Conneticut, how do you know which way to go? I know this sounds silly but I never do flight planning. Is there a utility that will show you your waypoints and guide you without such a fuss? Thnak yu, jakob ::)

Your aircraft has GPS I guess.....use that..
If you can't figure out how to use it just say so and we'll get it sorted. ;) commoner.

Hello jacob.
I think first of all you should go through the learning center.
Or you can go to  the program's flight planner and put a departure and a destination airport, then let the machine find your route.
Tip,after you have loaded your filght plan, put the NAV mode on GPS and autopilot on NAV and it will fly you the route.
This is realy the simplest way that I can describe it for you.

Well put gabel.........but here is a simple way to use the GPS display...

1. Open your GPS display (click on the Satellite dish icon) This will be showing where you are at present.

2. Click the "direct to" button ( aletter D with an arrow through it)

3. On the "Push Curser" knob, click on the right hand of the SMALLER pair of arrows this will set the curser, so type in you destination ID which in your case is KHVN...and press the ENTER button on the display three times to activate it.(NOT enter on your keyboard! )

4 This will bring back the normal display and the straight line leading from your "plane" is the line to follow.

If you're going to be learning anyway, also learn how to use your instruments to do VOR to VOR navigation.  It's quite interesting, and makes flying that much more fun!

Do you know where you are going?

Yep! Somebody once told me that: "I'm going to hell in a handbasket if I don't change my ways..."

But anyways, nough about me...

Get into the sim take a few lessons, get a decent roadmap and follow the roads, I do to some extent it is pretty easy.. :-)
