Is their a really easy way to install add-ons for MS Flight sim 2004?

or is there any files that install them selves automatically?

Some files auto-install (I never trust these!), however an easy-to-follow scenery tutorial here in Grumpy's Lair http://www.simviation.com/lair/fs2004sc.htm
There is also an excellent one on adding aircraft here as well http://www.simviation.com/acinstall.htm

I know what you mean ozzy, payware auto install addons, ok but I don't like filling up my 'add or remove program' list with addons upon addons, just gets annoying.

you can always create a sub-folder in your FS2004 folder for this type of entry.. :-)

Hi Happy :) Grimmy >:(  (maybe the very first schizophrenic forum member to actually come out  :D )

Here's what you do - very simple.

Create a folder in the disk root directory - I call mine c:\aircraft

Install into that folder. Because the installer can't find all the FS9 folders that you are trying to protect (Gauges, Effects etc etc) it creates a subfolder in c:\aircraft for the new plane (itself containing all the usual model, panel, sound, texture folders and the aircraft.cfg and air files) which you can COPY into your FS9 main Aircraft folder, plus subfolders called effects, gauges and so on.

So you then COPY the contents of those into their relevant destinations as well.

Lastly you'll find an UNINSTALL exe file in c:\aircraft. Run that and you've got rid of all the junk.

Because you COPIED stuff over, the uninstall routine finds everything it's looking for and terminates cleanly with a smile on its face. It will also delete your c:\aircraft folder but that's easy enough to recreate for the next time.

;)
