Something I would like to see

Postby SaVas » Mon Oct 11, 2004 7:28 am

I want to see passengers! Im tired of flying around in empty aircraft. Other than a handful of payware, and the Project Opensky CRJ 200, seems the airborn fleet is empty

Anyone know of any freeware thats highly detailed that has passengers in the cabin? ;D

I agree, it would look much more realistic to have a load of passengers.  I would not be bothered about them moving, because that would eat fps up, but fixed passengers would look very good.

Savas,

I think the problem isw that every passenger is more polygons for the graphics card / cpu to keep track of.  So my guess is it would impact framerates badly.

But that is a guess.

best,

As long as you were able to keep the virtual cabin and the surrounding aircraft to a minimum, you could include some low poly people.  If you kept the polys down and had some good texturing, you might not notice the low polys as much.  It would be great to see som people moving around in the cabin, a flight attendant pushing the cart up and down the isle. ;D

My Tu-154 in Malev colours has 1 passenger in it!
What I'd like to see is more top-less lady sunbathers on the beaches in the Caribbean that I frequent in my Cub ;D

I could only imagine what the Playboy jet would look like with virtual passengers... :o

Alright, this topic is heading down a path that is not for under aged kids to see.... ;D

As much as the idea of pax is cool, I've got a list of things I'd like to see before I see them.

Maybe an animated bird here and there.  Inflight emergencies, tugs to push me back, etc...
Great edit, Bob.

Google it.

As for a hit on framerates, I fly the Citation X by Eaglesoft quite frequently (fav biz jet for simming) and I run it delux with animated co-pilot, pilot, and passenger, and I might lose 1 to 2 fps. I am sure 4 to 6 static passengers would not impact it too much more than that.

Besides now that I used FS-GS to optimize my system, there is no noticable difference in running at 10 FPS or 30 FPS. No stutter or shimmy at all even on the most graphically intensive aircraft.

Ah... I had a different "picture" in my head from your earlier comment.  I was picturing something like a 747 loaded with about 300 passengers or so  ;D .

Sorry.

No no. No need for that many, just a few people in the cabin you can see from spot view like the CRJ 200 by POSKY, or 1 to 4 maybe in a small biz jet.

I know even Dreemfleet's Piper you can have up to 4 people in it.

Its just a nice touch to add to the imagination. look at the Junkers transport I believe in the troop transport version. forgot who made it, but its full of 'people'

I just fly a lot in the virtual cabin and always am the only person. Langoliers anyone?  :o
