Ok guys, thanks for the infro about the water txture...
I made an internet research about this and...realy the Gforrce 4 can't work with water reflection :'(
However aircrafts with "metalic reflections" works.
Cheers and happy landings.

The card has to be DX9 compatible.  As far as I remember, the GeForce 4 never wasv :P

Actually FS9 only uses DX9 sounds, the card needs to be DX8.1 to get the nice water effects.
GF4 cards are only DX7 so they can't display the water effects.

Edit:
In reference to the post below i was referring to GF4 MX cards not Ti, sorry for not being precise. :-[

I have what some would consider the lowest-end of GForce4 cards (G4-Ti4200) and it shows ALL reflections perfectly.

Here's a sample of WATER textures

Also, look here for a comparison chart

Thanks to Tom for posting his findings

As far as I am aware the GF4 MX series didnt fully support DX8 but the GF4 Ti series did.

I had two GeForce cards die on me and my Raedon 9500 pro does fine.

Which one is the best really depends on who you ask...

Since i'm in this forum i mught as well post  :)

I have a Geforce 4 MX440 and have water reflections showing fine. There is a download fix for the fact that Geforce 4s don't show reflections.

This is for FS2002 though don't know if would work in FS9

I have a ge-force 4 MX440. Do you know if you could provide a link to getting those reflections in fs2002. I'd like to try them in fs2004 as reflections don't work for me. This might be the saviour for us Ge-Force 4 MX users

Also, Stiz, what drivers are you running on your Ge-Force 4, that might also have something to do with it.
Thanks.

Ok, results are back...and they're negative. The fs2002 fix does not seem to work with fs2004 with me.
Looks like us ge-force 4 users are doomed  :(

Only GF4 MX. I was reding the other day about em. For some reason they haven't made them fully DX8 capable.  The GF4 Ti cards are fully DX8 capable which is why they can see the effects!

You should be able to pick up a GF4ti 4600 second hand pretty cheap these days and its far superior to the MX.

You cannot go wrong with an ATI.  I had 2 Nvidia cards and they both burned up within 6 months of each other.  I have had my ATI card in the same case, same cooling, no overclocking just like the Nvidia cards, and it is still running like a champ. ;D  I used to be an advocate for Nvidia, but out of spite I changed to an ATI and never thought about getting anything else. ;D ;D

I dont mind either make. My bro has an ATI9800pro and its very good  ;D

The FX5000 range of Nvidia cards werent very good at all IMO and ATI's 9000 series cards were better.

The new gen cards though its a different story. Nvidia have sorted their act out and its really to close to call.  I have gone Nvidia this time and it seems ok.

Touch wood I have never had any card burn out on me which ever make I have.
