Add-on planes

I wass looking at the homepage of the Simviation site here and I noticed that there where plane and scenery downloads. I'm not very happy with the defayult panes included so I was wondering if these planes and scenery upgrades are godd and if they are safe for my computer. As well which planes and scenery upgrades would you reccommend for me to try.

Welcome aboard.

there is an EXCELLENT how-to on installing new aircraft and sceneries on the site that I recommend reading thoroughly. At first you might make a few errors, but you will get the hang of it.

There is a decent number of freeware aircraft that are on par with payware.

Anything by Milton Shupe for one. His group makes some awesome freeware.

There are also some fantastic military jets - F-18 Super Hornet, F-14 Tomcat, and probably the most downloaded freeware mil. jet - Kirk Olsen's F-16 Viper

Depending on what you like to fly, you can find some excellent planes. My recommendation, is if you see someone post a plane or scenery in either of the screenshot forums (freeware or if you have a few extra bucks the payware forum), reply on the post inquiring as to where they found it. I have yet to come across a member that wouldnt help another simmer.

Thanks for your reply. I would like to get some of those military jets because i've always found that the other planes included in fs are a little slow and I'm a speed freak, so I'd love some military jets.

Hold on chaps. Why not try some freeware first? There's plenty to choose from & SimV is first & foremost a freeware site. Here's the FS2004 Military section. Take your pick. I suggest you start on the latest page & work back from there. http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military32.htm

Not everyone can afford to purchase payware. Personally I've never wanted to.

I too have never been remotely tempted to purchase payware - even though I've been sent it for free I've never even thought about trying it.

Just go straight for the F-16 Viper.  Hands down the best freeware (better than most payware) military aircraft available.

if you like military jets, then by all means get the F-16, F-14, and the F-18. All three are beautifully done. As for VCs the F-16 is the best as he included a pilot inside the view. Adds to the realism. Second would be the F-18 followed by the F-14. Now there are two F-18s avail. One is the Super Hornet which is superior to the other, but yes, get freeware before you enter the payware realm

If you want some more leasurable GA aircraft to for you hanger try some of these:

Howard 500
Bill Lyons aircraft which include:
Tiger Moth
Ryan's
Piper cubs (Better than default)
Swifts (These sound awsome)

Realair Simulations update for the C172 (Makes it much nicer to fly) and is free  ;D

Well there are a few GA planes but there are many more to many to list  ;D

Another area to explore once you've grabbed some of the premier freeware stuff is to look at the not so perfect ones.

Since you can mix and match air files, panels and sounds, it is easy to take a so-so plane and transform it into a true delight to fly.

It's very easy to do -- and there are many on this forum as well as others that would help you sort out any issues you encounter.

Some folks want complex panels, and never even look at the plane from the outside. Others want to stare at the beautiful visuals while they fly. There is plenty of variations to satisfy everyone.

Yup.  John Consterdine's Beech Baron panel for FS02 transformed an MS piece of junk into my second favorite aircraft.

If you download it you might see me (WebbPA at the time) as a beta tester.  I was just getting into panel design at the time.

Later, I modified it a bit to use in the Beech Kingair, which is now my favorite.
