Hi,

I think it might help to know what aircraft your talking about. I know on some aircraft you have to hit Shift+F4 to get the afterburners to come on.Some aircraft only need you to turn the aircraft lights on. I know there is an F-15 on this site that you have to bring up the throttle quadrant in the cockpit and move the throttle to the afterburner position with your mouse.

Hope this helps.

I'm not certain but try putting in full thrust (as above, press F4). Otherwise, the afterburner might be linked to the lights. Try pressing 'L' to get it working.
Hope that helps.
