Creating Flight Plan in flight

Postby Medic2762 » Mon Oct 04, 2004 10:35 am

While flying VFR, I sometimes want change to be able to land or navigate IFR while in flight. So, I choose the option in the ATC menu to open an IFR plan. It takes me to the Create Flight window, where I can choose a destination airport.

The problem is, it also makes me choose a departure airport, I don't see any option to enable this new flight plan from where I am, 6,000 feet in the air!

I seem to recall being able to do this - was it is FS02, where it would show your GPS coordinates and let you enable your flight plan from your current location, or can this be done in FS04? If so, how do I do this?

Hiya

Don't worry - choose the airport that you departed from or any other that's close to your route as at the end of the planning process, it asks whether you want to go to the departure airport or start from where you are!

Thanks!

I thought it could be done, just couldn't remember how.
I tried it and it worked perfect.

Thanks again!

That has to be one of the best features about FS2004
I sometimes will refile the same flight plan in order to edit the flight path a little. You just have to rember to remove any waypoints that you have allready passed. 8)

And thanks from me too! I had no idea how to do it and now I do thanks to Rollerball. I fly a lot of long distance trips in the FS9 commercial planes and inevitably I miss a handoff and lose my IFR because I'm on the phone or in the bathroom! Now I can pick right up where I left off thanks to this forum! Woo Hoo.
