How big is yours???

Postby Jared » Sat Oct 02, 2004 9:43 pm

So how big is your flight sim folder?

Here's my results, but I'm in the middle of getting the full world-wide set of scenery as soon as my dad gets done with vacation and downloads the other half of the files for me...;-)

Ended up with 10gb ...that's much more than I thought actually, considered I only have payware aircrafts and sceneries installed at the moment...apart from the default aircrafts of course.  :)

But 20gb is wicked.

Yeah not too bad, of course if you want to get technical you could also count same files on another hard drive in my system, and on another system...so TECHNICALLY I have 60GB of files...but not really...

I know there are people out there who have lots more files...;-)

Doesn't having a lot of stuff in the folder impact on performance?

mainly on load-up and when I go to switch airplanes it will take it a minute...:-) Other than that I have no problem when I'm actually flying the airplane... and even the laod-up isn't too bad just an extra 20 seconds or so...

A little less than 10Gb.

Honestly I thought it was heavier, with more than 100 add on planes and the many scenery, traffic, and others various enhancements. ???

Looks like I've got 21.4gb but with compression it only takes up 10gb on my 80gig drive. Looks like I'll have to clean out the Aircraft folder again.

11Gig.

Only one payware thing so far, but i want FSglobal and the new captain sim herc when it comes out.

Only one problem though, the HDD I've got FS installed on only has 2 gig left. :'( My other HDD has 140 though, so i could just move alot of the other stuff.

Only a miserable 4G in the main file but I have shifted nearly as much into a seperate file, including all the ACOF stuff, in case some day I want to fly it.

I tend to fly my favourites and don't have time for the others so I dump them - also some stuff is so much better than others that  I become less tolerant of lesser work...

20 to 24G is massive....! !
