With all the talk about Mt. Saint Helens, I setup my sim for May 28, 1980 @ 08:35. I thought I could watch the volcano erupt. Nope. Didn't M$ have it erupt in FS2000 or FS2002? I thought they would for FS2004. Oh well.

I don't think there could implement that. It would mean downloading data (which fs2004 only does with weather, not scenery) and implementing it in the scenery. I think you'd have to find a downloadable scenery or try making one, sorry.

He was referring to the 1980 eruption, which could have easily been included as an easter egg....not the one going on now.

That would have been a really great "easter egg". Not only would it have to have been a great show of fire, steam, dust and such for the basic emitters to simulate.... but the physical mesh of the area would have needed a significant change.... and a special "landclass" for all the blown down and mud and ash covered trees.
Neat scenery and effects project if someone can figure out how to do it ;).
best,
...............john

Skittles,
I don't know if FS2004 has the MSH eruption or not, but the date to try is May 18, 1980.
Your post said May 28; either an error or a typo.

Heya Joe,
If my memory serves correctly (and usually it doesn't) you may have been thinking of FS 2002 where you had a special flight that you could load where it would take you to 1984 and you could view the eruption of (I think it was) Mauna Loa in Hawaii.

A Huricane would be nice too. During Ivan I looked to fly in the eye but all I found was alot of wind and partly cloudy skys.

I've tried MSH 1980 and 1986, but nothing.
But - Kilauea erupts when the year is set to 1983.

There should be a *.bgl file placer in the FS SDKs that allows you to place any effects files in any place in the world with any time limit. Its incredibly easy use and very easy to understand. It should allow you to place all the necessary effects for an eruption at MSH on any given date.

Now that you mention it. I do remember flying around there. Funny how distortedly I remember stuff. Thanks.

I beleive there is a saved flight (that is default) somewhere over the rainbow.... look for that flight. I think I remember (when I did it a long tinme ago) starting out in mid air in a default cessna....
