Can't make the no-CD patch work.

??? Re: the No CD patch for fs9 - tried it but I get a message saying "cannot find mfc70.dll file" even though the file is there. What am I missing here, folks?

Verrrrrry interesting! Got me stumped. Immediately after installing the patch in the root directory of your fs9 did you rename the much larger original fs9.exe file to fs9.xex or something similar like getting it completely out of the root directory of fs9. If not could be a conflict. If this isn't the case you should probably download the patch again and preferably from another source.

Are you by chance clicking a link on your desktop or somewhere else, instead of the new EXE file in FS9?  Since you have replaced the current file, the original link might not work, so I would try erasing the link and replacing it with an entirely new one.

theoretically it shouldn't be a problem if the shortcut's are looking for the same file...;-)

Right Jared...I still use the same shortcut icon. To install the patch I left the original where it was but called it FS9original and just dragged the new one in there with it...see pic. Not that it improved things as far as I can see but it keeps my #4 disc safe and works a treat ;)

Delete the old desktop icon. Then make a new one for the new FS9.exe file and drag it to the desktop, that should do the trick, its a conflict error ;)

What I did was to put the origanl FS9exe in a seperate folder, Called File Basket, than I placed the new one in its place. I never had to mess with the shortcut at all.
I use the file basket folder to hold orignal backups of files. This way I know right where they are. 8)
