XP SP2 Update - problems ?

Just been reading Stevewilson's post on this page, "How do I correct this........"
He advises that his problems may have followed installation of the recent "major patch" XP SP2.
I have been following a post on another site (unrelated to flight-simming) where people were posting their success or disasters following the installation of this patch...........at one stage the score seemed to be about 80% successful as against 20% problems of one degree or another.
I am sitting here with the patch disc in my hand waiting for the smoke to clear before I decide to install same.
Apart from Stevewilson has anyone else any first-hand knowledge of any XP related problems stemming from this update ?

Applied the patch two weeks ago and have been fine. I did wipe the entire HD and re-installed everything fresh. But it seems to be working just fine.

I formated the disk and reinstalled everything with xp SP2. So far no problems! Very stable and fs seems to be a bit more smooth, but no gain or loss in fps though...

I have had no issues after installing Windows XP SP2 to my system. I didn't really notice any increase in FPS with FS 2004, however, I have noticed that the colors look better and the graphics look a lot clearer.

That is the #1 reason for problems after installing SP2!!

I did not clear the spyware or anything else for that matter and never had a problem with the SP2 patch whatsoever. Have it now for awhile, and I had better qualify that (Not yet anyway) Flight Sim and everything else runs as good as ever

I was warned by Dell Support that I would have trouble accessing the Internet if I installed SP2. Sure enough, like a lamb led to slaughter, I installed. Sure enough I now have trouble with download speed. Sometimes I have to try 3 or 4 times downloading Norton up dates. On the other hand, I have no problems with my Athlon no namer. ???

What exactly was it that Dell said??
The only reason I would see any internet problems happen is if you didn't have the new firewall properly configured. Or you are running both the SP2 firewall and another combined causing trouble
Or is it that you were having trouble to begin with and that was the only answer the "brains" at Dell could come up with?
Dell has some of the worse Tech support there is, no one there knows the answer to anything. When I need help with a problem I no longer bother with them I can get better help here and don't have to wait as long!
The Norton problem is simple, that is the Norton server and is the reason I threw Norton out over a year ago, could never get it to update without a bunch of hassle.

Nothing wrong with SP2 for me
installed it on 4 PCs already, and haven't seen it going wrong.
Just be sure to get rid of the spyware and stuff like that
Problems so far:
- SB Live cracks and pops will get worse when playing DVD's... use KXProject drivers instead
- DX9c drivers for nVidia cards have problems with shaders and fog in FarCry if used with a GF4.
- Norton 2003 will give stupid security warnings with 'security center'.
- AVG Updates are recognised after a reboot only
- SP2 firewall does it's job, Zonealarm is easier but get a recent version.
Only serious problems are with AMD64 processors...
