Yeah it is in there! Never paid attention to it.
This is a guess as for I'm no panel expert but the term "minipanel" and "child" do sort of relate to being small. So my guess would be if you change the "1" in "child_3D=1" to "0" the panel would no longer appear.
Turns it off I would think, have to try it to see.

Excellent idea... ;)...!

Changing "child_3D=1" to "child_3D=0" to make certain annoying little children disappear sounds a like pretty good idea to me.. 8)...!

I'll try it next time I'm shopping in Sainsbury's.... ;D...!

Cheers all... 8)...!

Paul....always on the look-out for alternative options... ;)...!

I'm not really considered serious most of the time but it seems that my first reply is the answer to your question.
I tried it and it seems to do what I guessed it would.

Changing the "1" to a "0" seems to disable the mini-panel.

Or at least that is what I have found, you might want to wait for someone who actually works with panels more than I to get a difinitive answer.

hmmmm =/ Mr. Oxy-Moron I ll have to agree with U again LOL

O'e tried to change the values and the I got 2 things done:

1. when chaging from 1 to 0 and vice-versa the mini panel won't work anymoe

2. If I made that //child_3d=1 thing then no more mini panels

So Mr Fs I think U got your answer .

And I must add that people around here are extremely good guys, funny as well and we like to enjoy ourselves from times to times, plz don't be that angry -

Don't Worry, Be Happy!

cya guys!

In most Flight Sim files, when you see "whatever"=1 or 0, this translates into "whatever"=ON or OFF.

With panels in general, especially with the older Flight Sims there was a little line added like this:

render_3d_window=1 or 0   (1=ON , 0=OFF)

This would cause different things to happen. If off, many of the switches would not be functional. You would see them in 2d, so no visual manipulation of the switches.

I had never seen the "child_3d=1" thing before until FS9. I am guessing it serves to turn the Minipanel ON and OFF.

Changing the value from 1 to 0 should turn it off. Changing it back to 1 should turn the minipanel back on.

The // marks in front of any entry basically tell your program to IGNORE it.

That is what I based my answer on, it was a assumption at first but after fiddling I seemed to have proven my answer as being correct. So I too learned something new!

I realise 0 & 1 is the on off switches but what does the child_3d=1 control. There must be an additinal line in the aircraft.cfg that it controls and this is missing or damaged. It works on the default aircraft but when you create a new panel in a new aircraft  it doesn't seem to work. Why is it so?
