Well. first off my computer got a virus and we had to redo windows and cleaned out the C drive.  my mom thought i put the virus in there. so she grounded me. well since she redid windows i lost flightsimulator. so i had to reinstall it. well when i went to go get it out of my room i dropped it near my computer desk, as i jumped really fast at a pathetic attemp to catch my cd case i hit my monitor on my desk and it fell 3 and a half feet onto my cd case with all of my flightsim cd's in it and shattered everything ... so now i dont have fs anymore  :( >:( >:( i can get on the computer again but i cant ever put fs back in it.  >:(

How do you shatter CDs? Ive given up breaking them by bending them in half and they still dont break. Ive tossed them like frisbees and no breakage...

This is the best one so far, I thought I heard them all! You can get Good ole MS to replace them if you care to give them a call. :(

Savas,

My daugher stepped on a Star Wars CD of mine that she left on the carpeted floor and is broke into pieces. I was astonished since I too had to put some effort into breaking them.

All those AOL CD make great cup coasters.

Mostickity,

You could try asking Microsoft, for a trade in for new CDs. Otherwise, hit the mall again.

Joe

Yup, a call to MS is in order.  Have the appropraite info in hand ("secret codes" included on the CD case/box if applicable).  If you are actually the lisence holder (purchased the software) you could also legally make a copy from someone else's disk.  If you have a friend with FS9 and a burner ask 'em to burn a copy for 'ya.  Unfortunately I'd urge you not to try and obtain a copy from someone here as there's just too much piracy out there to trust someone over the 'net.  Sorry.

I think the materials used to make CDs are changing lately.  I too have been astounded at how much abuse some CDs will take, while others shatter with little provocation.  BTW, the max speeds for modern CDROM drives are really edging up on the max spin speeds for CDs.  I wonder if the modern materials, while less flexible, are rated for a higher spin rate (axially stronger).  Hmmm...

Something doesn't make sense here.  To test my theory, I just took a CD from the ceiling and dropped it onto the floor.  Not even a crack.

So then I tried to repeat the process using the "It hit my monitor" explanation.  I dropped it (again from the ceiling) and let it hit a countertop on the way down.  Still not a crack.

Can someone explain to me how it can break all four CDs while protected by the case, yet my experiments proved that it can't break from ceiling height?

I take it this means the monitor fell on the case with the CDs in it.

Well, this give a new meaning to cracked cd's!

If MS won't replace them, at least it's now only $30 at Best Buy!

The CD didn't fall on the monitor.  The monitor fell on the CD.

My wife got me ACOF from E-bay for Christmas. LOL, I couldn't even install it right away until after New Years when I used Christmas money from my mom n pop to buy the components for our current system. Only had a P3 800 mhz when I got it. She paid $35 for my copy.

It takes all my strength to bend a CD and break it.  I am a stapping man might I add! ;D   I could see a monitor falling onto a CD and breaking it.  Anything I guess is possible.

The best way to get the CDs replaced is to contact MS.  I believe I remember seeing some information on the box or the documentation on how to get the CDs replaced.  You might also try the website, www.microsoft.com. ;D  Good luck...
