Changing aircraft callsign

Hi flight fans,
Can anyone tell me which file to edit in order to get the aircraft callsign of my choice?
Example: I have added a Harrier GR7 and want it to register as "YEOVIL THREE" with ATC, I thought I had cured the problem by editing the AIRCRAFT.CFG section ATC-CALLSIGN. However, when ATC acknowledge it uses "EXPERIMENTAL....".
Please help!
Thanks.

You can do that by going to the "select Aircraft" page. Select the particular aircraft then click the "change" button where it says ATC Name.........then just type in the Airline call sign and the Flight number you wish to hear (and see)in ATC...do that for each plane you want to use.

Hi and thanks for the help

, I've tried your suggestion and still can't achieve the result

I'd already tried the CHANGE NAME in ATC option but it spells the callsign Yankee Echo Oscar Victor India Lima 3 instead of pronouncing it as "YEOVIL 3" - there must be a way becasue of all the other callsing types such as Pacifica, Ocean etc etc......confused but still trying :-[

Open the aircraft cfg file and change the line that reads
atc_airline=Delta
Just put in what you want then save.
Be aware you need the correct call sign in order for fs to recognize it. There are some rather strange call signs such as SPEEDBIRD.
I down loaded an extended airlines cfg file so now I can use the correct callsign. Which callsign goes with each airline I am not sure there are so many. I rember seeing a list somewhere as what each airline uses for a callsign somewhere but do not rember where.

Yeah, what he said. You can't just type in any word and expect ATC to say it. These are pre-recorded voices, they can only do so much. I've had the same exact problem.

Sorry firehawk I guess I was a little tanked up on 14% Cabernet when I read your question ;D I think Beefhole gives the clue........there must be a .wav or other sound file to say "World Traveller" or one of the other selectable names. If so that could be replaced by one of your own making. You would have to try to copy the Male1 voice or whatever you use for the controller I suppose or it would sound a bit strange. This sounds easy but where are the wavs(?) that actually produce those particular words kept? I had a quick look in sounds but didn't actally see what I wantedthere !

I am sure that what you all are saying is correct.
All I know is that I downloaded a extended airlines file and I now can get call signs such as air west, nippon air,sky west and many others that I never had before and I did not add any thing else. Maybe I got lucky are this is something completely different. I honestly do not know. I am happy with what I have as I no longer get called experimental any more where I used to. I just make sure that the atc line has one of the call signs in the airline file. So far I have had no problems

Thanks for all the replies guys

very much appreciated.
I thought I had stuck lucky because I tried another local callsign "helimed" and added it to the atc_Id lines etc and it worked

Quickly changed the same lines to "yeovil" and it reverted to "experimental"

I Will have a search for the voice program as suggested because I had already tried to find the .wav files for atc.
Thought I was being a bit ambitous

The file I use I found at the main microsftflightsim site and it is a text file. If you look in your fs2004 folder for a file called airlines.cfg you will find it. I think it is at the bottom of the aircraft folder. All it does is just put more names in this file. I can not tell you how or why it works but I have a B727-200 in the Air France livery and untill I downloaded this file atc always called me experimental
and now it calls me air france. But then maybe it has something to do with the fact I only fly using flight plans IFR and do not just fly around. I was led to this file by a post here some time ago.
