dual monitors

Postby Hawkeye313 » Mon Sep 20, 2004 7:28 pm

How do I set up FS9 to use two monitors?  I'd like to stretch my view from left to right.  I thought WindvieW would do this, but it appears to be for multiple pc's, or am I missing something.

You have a couple of options:

One is to buy a very good video card that handles two video monitors off of the one card.

Thx dude.  I have a 9600 Pro AIW card.  The prob I was running into was that I was getting the same pic on both monitors.  I just read that the second monitor can be used to view something like spot view or maybe the GPS, but not to extend the horizontal view.  Is this true?  I know I've seen this done, but is it only do-able w/ 3 monitors?

Since you are using an Ati Radeon you need to install HYDRAVISION. Go to the Ati website to get it.

Hum..... I don't think the 9600 pro supports dual monitor views.

I don't know how you do it on Radeon cards, but my GeForce has a settings for:

Singleview - One Monitor
Clone - An exact duplicate of your desktop
Dualview - Gives you a second desktop
Horizontal - The desktop is stretched over two screens horizontally
Vertical - The same thing, but vertical

I use two monitors set up on Dualview, and wonder how I lived without it.

Yes DPR and FSEdge... I just went and looked at the old 9600 I have sitting on a shelf.  It in fact DOES have the DVI output as well as the SVGA.  That is likely why I was thinking it only supported one monitor.  Forgot about the DVI... because I never used it.

Thanks for straightening this out for Hawkeye.

best,

The 9600 Pro AIW does have support for two monitors.  I had them both working last night.  I forgot about Hydravision though.  Thx for the reminder FSEdge.  I'll give it another shot when the wife doesn't need her monitor for a while  ;).  I was getting an identical display on the second monitor in game, but outside of the game my display was stretched horizontally for a 2048x768 image.  I just can't get that size display to show in the game options.  Thanks again to everyone who took time to reply.
