F14 gauge problem

Postby DUNCAN45 » Mon Sep 20, 2004 6:28 pm

Help. I DL Dino's f14 and can't get gauges to display. Instructions to unzip on main FS directory went wrong so I manually moved aircraft folder and pasted effects and gauages files to their respective main folders.
Everything works - except gauges. Very cool plane and I'd love to fly it w/ instruments  8)

Dino's F-14 is really fantastic, however, there was something about the panel that I really didn't care for.  Personally, I use the F-14 panel by Rob Barendregt and Doug Dawson avalible here:

What I'm saying is that you may want to download this panel and use it instead of trying to troubleshoot the issues in getting the old panel to work again.

The way Dino has his panel/gauges set up can cause problems for some that are new to this issue.

If you look at the panel.cfg and read some of the gauge paths, you will see things like this:

gauge00=Tomcat/f14toggle!Panel.toggle.30,488,504,...

gauge01=TomcatVC/fsd_rf4.vsi!FSD......

Note the Tomcat/f14toggle part and TomcatVC/fsd part.

This means that when the FS looks for those gauges, it is going to be looking for those gauges within a Tomcat or TomcatVC folder within the FS9 Main Gauges folder.

In his download you will see that when you open up the "gauges" folder of his download, there are three folders in there. All three of those folders have to put directly into the Main Gauges folder of your Flight Sim, NOT the gauges dumped directly in there.

Hope this helps you out.
