Bad brakes

I have noticed that on most if not all of my planes "creep" while I am at idle with the parking prake on and also while I am sitting there holding the toe brakes down.   The movement is ever so slightly but however it is enough to keep any plane from refueling at the pump because it will not sit still.   Is there a way to make the parking brake stronger?

I'm not sure how to stop the creep, but why not shut down while refuelling?

Hot refuelling is only typically done on military aircraft, and only during training of that evolution or during surge operations.

Its no so much the problem of not being able to hot fuel, which normally I dont do, but more the problem of when I start out in the passenger gate, the plane is very slowly creeping toward the building before i can get all the engines started.  

any ideas for a fix would be greatly appreciated.

I don;t remember the particulars ... cause it was a LONG time ago... but I remember fixing the "power" of the brakes by changing an entry in either the aircraft.cfg file or the fs9.cfg file.

Read the old postings from a year ago or so.

Heya folks,

All that you have to do to "get rid of the creep" is to open the aircraft's Aircraft.cfg.  Look down the listings until you see the following entry:

[brakes]
toe_brakes_scale=0.46074
parking_brake=1

Change the toe_brakes_scale to about double the original number.  In the above case you should change it to:

toe_brakes_scale=0.92148

Run FS 2004 and test to see if the aircraft still creeps.  If so then increase this number by about 10% until the creep stops.

Do be aware that by increasing the toe_brakes_scale you are adding more braking power to your aircraft.  If you get the scale too high you can tip your aircraft over when braking!

On turboprop aircraft it is best to first check the throttle condition before doing the above.  Set the throttle idle to low first.  Not only will this keep the turboprop from "creeping" it will also help keep your speed down while taxiing.  Don't forget to increase the throttle idle on the runway before starting your takeoff roll!

perhapes its not so much the lack of brakes but the excess of idle power

make sure the throttle axis on your joystick is properly calibrated so when you set the controls to idle, the plane stays at idle  ;)

An excellent point Moach!  I completely forgot about that -- completely!!  Before modifying the Aircraft.cfg do as Moach suggests and check your Throttle Control Calibration first.

Just adjust the cfg file so your brakes are stronger as above.  As far as a hot refuel, I've seen it done several times on MediVac copters and on a private jetranger more than once.

First I tried to re-calibrate, not once but twice I reset everything.  Fired up the sim and got the same problem again.

Secondly I tried altering the aircraft.cfg file on 2 different planes.  One is a default plane (King Air 350) and the other is the ATR-42 off of the Eurowings (US Regional Airliners) add-on.  And again, I got "creeping planes"

On the ATR, the default setting on the brakes was .75  and when I decieded to stop I had it set at 2.999 and the sucker still crawls arcoss the ground with the toe brakes on as it does with the parking brake set.

Oh well,  If you guys can think of anything else I would appreciate it.    Also one more thing, My ATR will now stop on a dime and give you about 6 cents change back.

I might be wrong but with most things in FS9 you have the choice of 1 or 0.
1 being "on" and 0 being "off".
You could always try other numbers just to see what happens, if something goes wrong you can always go back and fix it.
