Hi! I'm new here, I only have FS4, 5.1, FS98, and FS2000, and I'm wondering what FS 2004 is like.

2. I created a supersonic airplane in FS5, and it works great in FS98, and ok in FS2000. Is there a way to fly it in FS 2004?

3. Does FS 2004 give you the option of "free flight," meaning that you don't have the ATC ordering you around every few seconds?

Yes i will demand a lot,well, depends all its relative im running in Athlon 1.8,video card nvidia mx 128mgz and 256ram,but my son has a p3 800mhz 64 nvidia 256 ram
and it runs Ok,these are cheap equipment if you have more money you can get better machine to get a better improvments,and 2nd question NO it wont work,FS9 its a very different program its much more sofiticated,it isn't my knolledge about *.mdl but im very sure it wont work , anyone else can anwer that with details why,the third question,yes it has and artificial inteligence you can fly in IFR as real life,aproaches by ILS its very realistic,and of course you can just fly without order from ATC,but due such realism you should  try my friend

I have windows XP professional, my computer is a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop, it is a intel pentium, has a 1.40 gigahertz processer, and 256 mb of ram. Is that good?

well,i think so but what grafic do you have?I mean do you have a grafic video card?thats all you need  to buy the pgrm

It's kinda hard for me to tell, but in FS2000, it flies with good frame rates even in the largest of cities (30-50 fps in the country, and maybe about 10 fps in the largest cities), so I think that FS2004 would work ok.  ;D My bday is in just 2 months, so I'll add it to my list. :lol:

One more thing: How do I upload files/images to the forum from my hard (C:\) drive?

You said you get 10fps in the busiest areas in FS2000, it is highly unlikely that you will be able to run FS2004 smoothly at all.  It sounds like your GFX card is lacking, what is it BTW?

Don't count on FS2004 running very well, if at all on that laptop.  FS2004 relies on a lot of processor power as well as RAM more so than graphics card really...although a decent graphics card IS needed.

Windows XP on its own takes up at least 128mb of RAM leaving you with only 128 for everything else.  In reality, at least 512mb or 1gb of RAMis needed.

I run FS9 with 1.5 gigs of RAM and I still lag on occasion.

You definitely need 512 megs of ram atleast, and I really would recommend a 128mb graphics card and a fast processor.

FS9 is a BIG resource hog

Hmm... I'll get it any way, although I'm nervous as to how it will run on my computer....

Also, in fs2004, can we control the weather?

EDIT: I also flew through new york again and got an average fps of 12.5 to 14.5, although I doubt that it would make much of a difference....

I almost left the thread without posting, but I felt compelled.

If your getting 15fps in FS2000. I believe you would be disappointed with FS2004. Yes the weather is cool and the ATC and AI are redone, but look at my specs below, I've gone through the FS-GS system configuration. If you're not familar with FS-GS, let me just say, they help you to temporarily remove/shutdown all the unneccessary crap running in the back ground that you don't see. They help streamline FS to run at it's best on your system. Considering my specs, I still get 10-15fps at busy airports. That's with full added-on weather, added-on aircraft, and scenery add-ons. With out all this stuff, I'm looking around 20-25FPS.

My suggestion is, if you do get FS2004, don't get your hopes up too much on all the pretty scenery, airplanes and airports. You may be happy with the lowest settings.
Also, do you know anyone who can lend you their copy so you can try before you buy?

I don't want to discourage you, I just don't want you to get dissappointed. It's a great program, if you have a great system.
