Hi im a n00b to the forums, and i'm interested in purchasing FS2004 and i was wondering how well it would work on my current PC specs, would there be lag, etc.....

WIN98 SE (Hey its reliable)
2.0 Intel Celeron P4 Processor
256MB DDR RAM
128MB nVIDIA geFORCE 4 MX4000
Direct X 9.0c

So how well would it work? And any other tips for FS2004 for when i get it? And do many people use Multiplayer for FS2004?

I'd suggest taking Win98 to it's 512MB RAM limit...it will help on a good number of applications where Win98 tends to get RAM intensive.

Def. up the Ram....if you are going to put payware aircraft on your computer...you may want to look into a Radeon card...

You are likely going to have to turn a lot of the neat new stuff down or off in the sim to get framerates that allow it to fly well.  See my specs..... they don't really cut it.  At least not matching the "promo" thjat the program gets.

best,

I think with Win 98 512 is the most you can get, I have 768 and I still don't think thats enough :'(

It's not a matter of motherboard, that surely permits you to go way higher, it's a matter of Win98 (ME too, for that).

Windows SO's of old generation cannot use more memory than 512Mb and they actually give problems if the RAM is expanded over that limit.

There is an issue with the VCACHE.VXD, if i recall correctly, that can't handle more memory than that.
