Postby ivanski » Thu Aug 26, 2004 11:04 am

I have a XP machine and have instaled fs9 onto it, directx9 was detected as not present on loadng it in so it auto installed this first. The complete 4 cd installatuion goes in no problem, requsts a restart after install. Once this is done when you try to start up the game i get the following error messages.............

"some aircraft and software could not be loaded please click to continue without them"

then it runs a lst of errors

acontain.dll
a1-player.dll
atc.dll
controls.dll
dem.dll
facilities.dll
fe.dll
flight.dll
fsui.dll
gzd.dll
g3d.dll
instructor.dll
mains.dll
multiplayer.dll
sound.dll
symmap.dll
terrain.dll
traffic.dll

when i look in the modules folder within the game, al these files are present and installed.

Ive installed this version on other machines and suffrerd nothing like this before.

Thanks

That is strange.
After the install did you check the FS2004 aircraft folder to see if all the aircraft are there. If they are not you might want to try cleaning the disk and try to reinstall it.
You will have to uninstall it first. The reason for the errors are due to the fact that the install had a problem. the first dll file has to do with the aircraft container list.
Was there any other programs running during the install.
If all of this does not help I would give M$ a call.
Not sure what has happened but it is clear that the install is bad.
Maybe some one else that uses XP can shed a littlie light on this matter.
 Lots of luck 8)

I have a problem too. I've loaded fs9 before on my computer and it worked fine, but I had to reinstall it because I was having problems. As I installed the game every disced worked but the fourth disc keeps saying that their is a disc error. This is the cd that installs the cities. Can anyone please give me help on what to do?

I think it is time to call Micro soft.
This is defintely a problem. I would think that you would get a error message if one of the disk were bad. Unless you have some kind of strange setting it should run with no problems. Have you tried to install it on any oter window systems such as me or 2000 if it will not run on either of these system then you have your answer your disk are bad or corrupt.
One other thought have you scaned your systems for any virus or worms lately. I have heard of some worms out there that reek havioc on system such as the SASSER worm for one.

Try searching the CD's, see if you can pull the missing .dlls off maually and put them in the proper folders. i'm at work right now so i can't check if that's possible, but it's something to look at

I tried to reinstall fs9 again and this time it worked. The reason I reinstalled it is because my ground textures are horrible. Before everything worked smoothly. After reinstalling the game the ground textures are still not clear. When I use topdown view the textures flicker. What should I do?
