I read somewhere that you should use it on dual prop aircraft when cruising. And turn it off when entering the circuit.

It keeps your props operating at the same rpm (provided your levers are set the same) so you don't get the resonanting sounds.

I could be wrong buy it is my understanding that prop sync is used by multiple prop aircraft. It keeps the props in sync with each other so the plane does not vibrate apart.
Basicly the props come down at the same time without this control the vibration would be enough to cause damage to the airframe.

prop sync is just that: on a multi eng aircraft in adjusts rpm so as to eliminate "beat freq resonance" that is kinda annoying to listen to in the aircraft  (constructive interferance vs destructive interferance...basic physics)...when the props are "in sync" you will hear a slightly lower and smoother sound (it doesn't seem to work very well in fs9)....in fact, you will find the same in some jet aircraft, such as the md80...in real life it works very well...just try sitting in the last row between the engines odf a super 80 with the eng sync placarded (inop) and you will see how effective the sync system is!!!  (when it  works...it aint a "no go " item in the MEL)

"just try sitting in the last row between the engines odf a super 80"

Had a 3 hour flight in one, last row next to the window(well an engine view you can't see anything) not a fun ride, flown in md-80's way to much.

anyway the reason I asked is because I saw it in the Baron 58 and I have never flown or flown in a small twin piston, so just wanted to find out more about prop sync

thanks for the replies
