wing viewer

Postby ciuwilliam » Fri Aug 20, 2004 5:45 pm

I've tried to download planes that have wingviewers, but when I start the game their isn't a wing view. Can anyone give me any ideas on a good plane that have wingviewers that work or how to see the wingview from a plane that I've downloaded. It would be cool to see from a passangers viewpoint.
I've downloaded planes that are suppose to have a virtual cockpit but, I never see it.

Thanks for your help.

Have you made 100% sure that you put all the files from the downloade dplanes in the right place?  I had a problem once where I missed the same file in a string of planes i downloaded, and took me a while to figure it out.

It might be easier to start with a particular plane and see if someone can talk you through installation to get all the features the plane is supposed to have. That way they could check the airplane out to see why you are getting the wrong results. Usually however for the Virtual Cockpit you just hit "S" key while at the 2D panel and you should be in the VC. From there it's just a matter of moving around until you get the view you want. The keys to move around are listed in the Key Assignments inside the sim.

Be aware however that by default you can only move around the VC so much. Microsoft only lets you go so far. To be able to really travel around inside the airplane you'll probably need a payware add on like Active Camera. It lets you move all over the VC and even walk around outside the plane.

Just wanted to add that with Active Camera the outside view still has something to be desired. According to the creator of the app that's a limitation of MS Flight Sim and can't be helped. Apparently the scenery doesn't refresh fully so you will see things like trees floating in the air and such. If however you have a third party scenery you can walk around that and it will look OK. You can also see the airplane so if you keep your viewpoint toward any third party scenery or the airplane ie a virtual walkaround inspection, it works pretty good. The VC movement however is fantastic. I have Active Camera mostly for that feature.
