For some reason, I get no engine sounds for the jets.  I get background sounds, wheels, weather, etc, but no engines.  I get engines on the props, but not the jets.  I have tried re-installing, but nothing works...

Kevin, did you check your gas gauge? Maybe you have a leak. If your battery is dead, I can swing by a bit later. I am just sitting on the shore of Key West waiting for the storm!  8)

Ups..... sorry Robert I thought you where kidding,Weird,as I see (Im not an expert)you better start to thinking about Unistall the entire program FS9;Thats what i do when i have strage problems like yours(many will desagree for what Im advising you)question have you check other programs?,are they working fine?I saw once
a similar problem"with Xp"it was an a damage in a windows/system32  ?? *.DLL that control movements and grafics interfase

Sorry everyone here I misunderstood dread pirate roberts's topic,I though he meant that he did no had any movement,Its because my English isn't well enough and make me interpretate wrong things sometimes,it was just the engine sound,I apologise every one here for my stupidity and next time I'll read the things four times before I reply

That "stealth" add-on works pretty good doesn't it?


This might be a long shot but have you checked the settings in the Sim?
I know that with the engine sounds turned down below 50 in my settings the jets are a little softer than the props.

Kevin - are these ALL jet sounds or just the 737/Lear?

It may be a good idea to experiment with some alternative jet sounds & see if you get anywhere.

Also try aliasing sounds to different aircraft.

What about Heli's

After that elimination you may get somewhere.

I've had this problem in FS2000 (in fact it was quite common then) but not yet in FS2004. I seem to remember removing the offending aircraft - running FS - shutting down FS - Rebooting - re-installing the aircraft.

Of course it may be something very simple too

I would suggest you check out the sound folders on the aircraft involved & make sure you have a sound cfg file & on the ones not alised there should be .WAV files it is here where the engine sound comes from.
If most of your jets or alised to one other jet than the problem is in that jets sound folder.
The default B737-400 have there own wav files I would start there & make sure the .wav files are there. Try clicking on each wav file to make sure you hear sound from each one. If all of the above checks out ok try renaming your fs9 cfg file and restart FS & see what happens. I would try the above before I uninstalled & reinstalled FS. I know what a pain in the posterior that can be.

I agree with Garymbuska....  You problably have a sound folder aliasing to another aircraft that is not in your directory.

No need to apologise!
I consider my English quite well, better than most who live in TN, and I misinterpret things all the time. Sometimes hard not to with these people here, if you know what I mean

I believe your problem is related to the audio CODECs in Windows.  This same thing happened to me over two years ago.  I just located my notes or would have responded sooner.  

The solution is to Uninstall and Reinstall the CODECs (I think these are COmpress-DECompress utilities within the multimedia part of the OS).  They are not a part of FS2004.

The procedure that I used at the time came out of the Microsoft Knowledge Base.  I was using FS2002 with Win98SE.  The reinstall worked and the jet sounds were back to normal.

If you're using Win98SE or WinME, I can provide more info to help with the process.  Or, search any of the Flight Sim forums or MS Knowledge Base for "Audio CODEC" and see what you come up with.
