Seeking Help with FS Autostart Problem

Hi all,

I recently started running into trouble where my FS Autostart program will not run. I put a screenie here to illustrate what it does.
Image
The highlight box says " C\WINDOWS\fsautostart.ini" and it just sits there. I can't get the window to maximize or anything. I've tried to uninstall and reinstall and this keeps happening. has this happened to anyone else. This program is indispensible to me!

Hmmmm

I'm not too convinced about this prog. I've tried using it and after a short while my Windows crashes with a graphics drivers problem.

Looks like you've also got something similar.

I also didn't see any real FR gain. Not surprising as you're shutting down services most of which take minimal processing power and leaving a program (FS Autostart) running in the background.

I'd suggest you leave the Windows services running, shut down programs like your anti-virus, spam blocker, desktop manager etc manually and just get on and enjoy your sim.

Like most of these 'miracle' cures IMHO the promised benefits just don't materialise in reality.

I'm sure other people will now come along and say how they've managed to achieve 10 FR+ increases using this 'fantastic' program  :)

Personally, I remember the 'fantastic' program of a few months back that managed to achieve 'miraculous' FR increases - by deleting more than half of the autogen! And it had an error in its coding to boot!

Great fun innit ;)

I've never seen this problem before. but I would say that it is corrupt somewhere, try re-installing and see what happens, and make sure that it is directed to the correct location of FS9.

I have been using FSAutostart for some time now without any problems. As for as increase in framrates I don't know I still keep mine set at 20, but as far as freeing RAM it is awesome, the sim doesn't sputter anymore, runs smooth as silk. Whereas just doing the "Ctrl-Alt-Delete" method the sim would shake me to death.

I only had it crash once with a graphic driver problem, and that was because I didn't configure it correctly from the start, I just installed and fired it up.
If you correctly configure it by going through and telling it what to stop, keep running ect. Problems shouldn't arise. I think this is what happens too most who experiance difficulties they don't know what processes are what and allow the program to shut them down, the key is too go through each one and learn what it is that they do, the program will list what it is for but if you still are uncertain look it up.
No matter what the program recommends be sure to set it to "take no action" for you video card and sound card items and make sure you pay attention becasue you'll probably have more than one process they require.
I've also tried End-it-All but like autostart better, gives more details on the processes and I also like the fact it restarts everything when finished flying whereas you must reboot using EndItAll.

I agree. I've been using FSAutostart for a while now and while it hasn't increased my frame rates it does seem to make the sim a little smoother which is all I can expect considering my computer is so out of date.

I don't know why pooty13901's program is acting up unless he's gotten a bad copy. I would suggest that he try posting a message on the FS-GS website. Maybe someone there will know what's happening.
