Before you shut down FS9, taxi to parking, shut your aircraft down etc, hit alt., and save the game as any name you want. I usually end up using "location_date" i.e.
MeadowlakeCO_OOV_09.08.04. You can then load that flight again next time.

The fastest way is to press either crtl F1 or shift F1 I can not rember which brain overload ;D this shuts off the fuel flow.

Depends on the particular model and how it has been set up as to conforming to the real aircraft systems.  Look in the file folder from the aircraft if it is an add on and see if there is a manual for the plane.

If it is a large multi-engine or "heavy" jet aircraft..... likely the fuel pumps and engine starting controls (and hence the shutdown controls) will be located on the overhead panel somewhere.

SOme addons have very detailed and accurate start up and shut down procedures if you want to use them.  And if you use them wrong...... they don't start   ;).

best,

I have my keyboard assignments set so that Ctrl + F is mapped to the Engine Auto Shutoff Command.

I forget the default setup but to kill the engines I just use the mixture. I have that mapped to my number pad "+" and "-" keys. When I want to kill the engines I just hit the "-" key until the engine shuts down.

Never flown a jet but in piston engine planes you shut the engine down by pulling the mixture control all the way out.

The way the magnetos are set up on a piston aicraft, if you have a broken wire or bad connector on the ignition switch the engine is capable of firing. By killing the engine using the mixture it assures that there isn't a little gas left in the carb so if someone moves the airplane and/or bumps the prop the engine doesn't kick over and injure them.

AFAIK the default shutdown key command is ctrl+shift+F1.
