Jeppesin Sim Charts

I was looking at the Jeppesin Sim Charts and in addition to the runway layouts, they have approaches mapped out as well. But it was like I was reading something written in Greek. I couldn't figure out heads from tails.  :o The one I saw was for the Bridges approach into Tampa. I haven't done any VOR to VOR flying in FS9, so maybe thats why things look so confusing.  On the chart it has La Belle which I believe is a VOR station. Iy's a round circle. with a 2nd circle inside of it, with tick marks around it. Next to the circle is a 312 degree heading written next to it. Does that mean when I reach the La Belle Vor I should turn to a heading of 312? Then after that there is a small triangle labeled ROGAN. What is that? I don't see a frequency to dial into on ROGAN like I did with LaBelle. So how do I navigate towards it? It looks like if I stay on the heading of 312 I would pass over Rogan. So is Rogan just a distance marker? How would I know which approach to fly? Like if I was making an approach into Tampa and want to land on Runway 17. Are the approaches based on if you arre approaching from the North, South East and West?

They seem like they would be really useful, but there is just so much info.

I'm sure that someone could give you all these answers, but they won't help without a very detailed explanation as to what is being talked about.
I think you would be better to go into the learning center in FS9. If I'm not mistaken, they take some time to explain that stuff in the VOR flying segment. Can anyone back me up on this? I'm not at home so I can't be sure.

It's kinda hard to help when there is no map available for us to look at.
But by the sound of it, you should fly the 312 radial FROM La Belle. so whatever heading you're flying prior to La Belle, you should track the 312 radial from La Belle VOR

ROGAN is a "named waypoint" or a CNF, Computer Navigation Fix,

Try the lessons in the sim. I think it's the Private Pilot lesson #3 that covers VOR navigation. It'll give you a much more detailed explaination than anyone can on this board.

Matt has the right idea here I would go one step further and tell you to start at the front & work your way through the lessons. The only way to really understand is by doing it otherwise like you said it would look greak to you and be very confusing. The lessons are a great tool for learning just make sure you under stand each one before you move on to the next lesson.
It is like math you need to know how to add before you can learn to multiply.
By the way skip the check rides as they are alomost impossable to pass. But I have read where a few have passed them. 8)
