Some engines wont start

Postby BiggBaddWolf » Fri Jul 30, 2004 3:32 am

Some of my engines wont start either by clicking on the key or using the Ctrl + E keyboard command. Just wondering if there is any way to fix this? :o

It might be you've selected a single engine only, try CRTL+E+1/2/3/4 this selects the other engines ;)

Nope that isnt it, because the planes are all single engine planes, Piper Cherokee's, Beechcraft Bonanza V35, planes like that  ::)

Have you checked the fuel flow settings? To check this try starting the engine with the throttle full open and then reduce once its started.

It was my understanding that by using crtl e that any planes engine would start even if the fuel flow was initally set to off the crtl e sequance would toggle the fuel flow to on. I know I have seen this happen with the B737 series if you have the throttle window up set the fuel flow switches to off then press crtl e you can watch them turn on. But may be this is not happening in this case so I would check to make sure that the fuel flow switch is on during start. 8)

On props sometimes you need to force it. I once spent about 5 mins scratching my head and wondering why my Sopwith Tripe kept dying when I closed the throttle to idle, it was simply a v.realistic model ::)

I've had some planes that were made for CFS2 that I put in FS2004 that the engines would quit if you let them idle more than a few seconds.  Other than that they worked great.

First check your fuel cutoff valve. Next make sure your mixture is set to rich. If you have fuel and mixture set properly and the airplane still cranks without starting then you'll need to cheat a little. Load up an aircraft from your menu that's easy to start like the Cessna 172 and get it running and then switch to the one that was giving you trouble.

Some add on airplanes will sometimes give you trouble. I've run into a couple like this but only had two that I never could start (Fokker Triplane and Lago Cheetah ultralight). The last is a payware plane. Pretty disgusting to have a plane you pay for be impossible to fly. Tried contacting Lago but no response so I finally found a .air and .cfg file that seems to work.
