hi i have a saitek sp550 joystick and before i play fs9 i always calibrate my joystick. When i takeoff sometimes the plane goes in a straight line but most of the time it turns to the left and makes takingoff very difficult. Has anyone got and ideas as to whats wrong ?

                         Many thanks daz

Does this happen when you are flying props?

If yes, then its nothing to do with your joystick. This turning is due to the propeller spinning and can be turned off in the realism settings.

Hi Daz,

A few ?? I'd ask myself if it were my problem.....

Why calibrate every time, does the calibration appear to change? Does the clibration appear solid or are things jumping around?...If so could be a joystick problem.

Try 1) increasing the 'null zone' in joystick sensitivity settings, or 2) remove your joystick rudder from assignments and use 'autorudder' from aircraft/realism. ( then use ailerons to taxi) or 3) disconnect joystick and fly with the keyboard. Any or all of these should help to  verify if it is a joystick problem.

Are rudder and aileron trim (if any) centered or in TO position?

Do you have a cross wind? shft/z to check wind direction and speed.

Aircraft/realism (for left turn tendency) should only affect props, but you could try setting to easy.

Autopilot off?...(I know, but gotta be asked :) )

Low tire pressure or chock still under left wheel?

I have a Saitek EVO (USB) Joystick and experienced a simular problem. I also often had to recalibrate it when first loading ACOF, ater rebooting etc.

Yeah my EVO sometimes is just a tad off, normally the rudder.
If you just twist it about, the problem rights itself. You can do this anytime, either in windows or in the game.
