fuel x-feed

Postby beefhole » Thu Jul 15, 2004 1:53 pm

just got back from camp. basically its just 3 weeks in a 3rd world country inside pennsylvania. ugh. anyway, i was wondering, for the boeings, the fuel cross feed says left and right.  if i set it to left, does that mean fuel will be released from the left engine into the right engine or fuel will be released from the right engine into the left engine? thanks.

I don't know.  I just leave it on automatic.  My guess would be that setting it to left means fuel goes from the left tank to all engines and vice versa from the right.

If the crossfeed switch is turned on (Left, Right?) it means that fuel from that tank will feed both engines.

In real life, for example B777 has 2 x-feed valves, one forward and one aft. You can select either one of them and it will allow fuel from the high tank to feed both engines,
