Without any additinal info i'd say you have Logbook enable which is corrupting your fs9.cfg file.

Logbook or no, 'crash-to-desktop' in FS9 is usually caused by a corrupted fs9.cfg file.

Delete fs9.cfg and reset everything.

N.B.
FS2004 Where is my FS9.cfg file located ?
It is now located into your personal profile. The folder is Documents and Settings -> 'Your user name' -> Application Data -> Microsoft -> FS9. By example : C:\Documents and Settings\Olivier\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9

thnx to projectai.com for the file path

Look at the system log...

To get there, right-click My Computer in the start menu and select manage to bring up the MMC console.

Select event viewer on the left side, then select system on the right side.

Look for Yellow exclamation points and Red X's.  This should point to the problem.

Are you running Windows XP, by the way?
