Are there any recomended add on's that I should download and use with FS 2004?

What are you interested in? Do you mean software or aircraft etc...? I would reccomend the CFS2 Paul Rebuffat spitfires. They're hard to find, but totally awesome.

Venge with aircraft post a list of what you want in the Aircraft Wanted forum and we'll do our best to help you find them, with other stuff e.g. scenery, sounds, effects post what you need in the Other Add-Ons Wanted forum and we'll do our best to help you find those as well ;)

To be honest I am not really sure what I want.  That is why such an open ended question.
2004 seems so huge to the beginner (thats me :) )
that I should be kept quite happy with it as it is most likely.
Will have a look at the other forums you mentioned though.
