Sounds like you have motherboard-integtrated graphics.  If you have an open AGP slot for a graphics card upgrade, I'd look into getting a good Nvidia card with at least 128MB RAM on the card (don't go cheap on your video card).  Also adding some system RAM (minimum 512MB) would speed things up too.  When I built my machine, I had a low end Nvidia GeForce2 64MB card until I bought a GeForce FX 5700 128MB and the frame rates were awful with the low end card and are great with the FX.

As said more ram (Get 1gig if you can afford it) and definately a graphics card if you have an AGP slot.

FX5700 is a good card though here in UK if you shop around you can get an ATI9800pro 128ddr (make sure its a 256bit one) for a few quid more and is a better card IMO.  I have always had Nvidias but my bro got a 9800pro for
AMD64 3500+ @ 2200MHz 400FSB
MSI K8N Neo 2 mobo nForce3 chipset
1gig Corsair XMS PC3200 timings @ 10.2.2.2
XFX 6800 Ultra @ 450/1200
80gig HDD
Loadsa fans!!!

Well, I've got an 800mhz DURON, Geforce 4 MMX (128mb), and 640MB of system RAM, and my machine runs the game pretty damn well considering. I'm
averaging about 15fps with most of the settings turned to maximum!

Over big cities, it slows down to about 10fps, but flies better if I turn down the Autogen. Over regular terrain, I sometimes get frame rates of up to 40fps.

This is running FS2002, so I don't know if there's any big differences in frame rates with FS2004. ???

The game certainly looks great on my machine anyway.

DO NOT VOID YOUR WARRANTY! Check with the manufacturer for upgrades.

Like the others have said, the best improvements you could make would be another stick of RAM (minimum 256, but I'd recommend another 512 just to get a bit more performance out of it) and a video card upgrade.  I also had integrated graphics and picked up the FX5200 and got a tremendous boost.
Great edit, Bob.

I was having frame rate troubles, i upgraded to 512MB of RAM and replaced my Radeon 7000 32MB with a new card.  Now ACOF really flies. ;)

I'm actually toying with the idea of moving up to a gig of RAM.  lol

Obviously I can't get FS2004 I only have 127 mb RAM  :-[
No wonder why Battlefield Vietnam went slower than syrup. I didn't look on the system requirements: 256 MB of RAM or more.                           ...off to Best Buy!

Do it guys. I got a prog that monitors ram usage.  XP alone uses just over 200!!  >:(  With flightsim running I seem to average 550ish but peak at 700meg sometimes.  I cant seem to get my PC to use all the ram yet though but Im gonna keep tryin I managed to hit 800meg once so far.  Also if you can afford it get Lower Latency stuff.  I cheated a little. I was gonna buy Corsait Low Latency PC2700 stuff, but I read all it is is PC3200chips with pre-set ram timings! so I brought PC3200 stuff and set the timings myself, saved myself

You will need to check with COMPAQ before buying a total of a gig of RAM. Not all boards support that much. Judging by your equipment, the max RAM will probably be 512. You have integrated graphics so it is unlikely that you have an AGP slot, but check to be sure. If you don't, just get the best PCI card you can afford.

Judging by your equipment, you will need to check with compaq to find out how much RAM your system can support. The max will probably be 512 so going out and buying a gigs worth may be a waste of money. It is also unlikely you have an AGP slot. Check to be sure, if not just get a good PCI card.
