Problems with FSCOF

Hi all,

I have been experiencing some problems with FS2004.
First of all the FPS are pityful. I get around 8 in Seatle and about 12 in other areas. The pc reboots sometimes while I'm in the middle of a flight. Some other times I see all kinds of graphic glitches.
My system specs are:

AMD XP Barton 3000+
512mb Ram PC2700
64mb Via/s3 Unichrome IGP with share memory.
Realtek Ac'97
160 gb hard drive
Windows XP Home Edition

The video card I'm using is an integrated card that has been doing ok with other games including FS2002. It's just too slow for my taste anyways.
Could the card be the cause of all the problems?
My pc has an AGP slot at the moment but I'd hate to spend money on a new v-card and still experience the same problems.
THanks in advance.

I won't be the only one to tell you this but yes a better video card would make a world of differance!!
Also more RAM, Windows XP itself uses 200+ mb of RAM alone so your sim is flying on about the minimum.(probable cause of the rebooting?)
You can get a decent video card for around $100 (GeForce FX 5200 is what I use).
Also try turning down your settings, anti alias, AF,.
It also will help to keep your harddrive defraged and give FSAuto Start a try (turns off all un-needed apps and processes)
But the biggest improvement will be a new card and more RAM.
Best of luck!

Hi all,

What I wouldnt do for the solution to this problem. It started after I added 256 MB's of RAM, kept happening when I replaced the stick, and kept happening when I took the new RAM out.

Can anybody help me?

PS. I have 512 MB of RAM, 64MB's of Vid RAM (Radeon 7000).

So you really think that a Geforce FX 5200 would be just fine to be able to play the sim with decent fps? Everybody keeps telling me that I need a 9800PRO or some other ATI PRO v-card. I don't want to spend more than a $100 on v-card, I'd rather get a nice v-card first and then some ram. Then again, if a Gforece FX 5200 should be enough then I'm getting one, they only like $45-55USD.
I think the rebooting was caused by the video card  which shares 64mb with the system memory leaving me 448 to play with.
Thanks anyways.

If you replaced the memory stick and it kept happening then I would start by checking the PSU rails on the BIOS and see if they are within the normal range.
