FS Startup Problem

Hallo,

I bought my copy of FS 2004 several days ago and had no problems with it. Now I upgraded from Windows 98 to XP.

After that FS started rebooting sometimes during a flight but worked again after that. But after the last reboot crash it does not want to start again. If I try to start FS it always stops loading after it checked the CD, I can only see the "a century of flight screen" with the DC 10.

I reinstalled it several times, erased the FS Files in "My Documents", moved it to a different partition, I've gone through all the steps of the Microsoft known issues page but it still won't work. The "FS Files" in "My Documents" is not created during the short loading time.
I upgraded to the newest Direct X, disabled the Nvidia Help, upgraded my display and sound drivers...nothing seems to help!

(Athlon 1.33, 256MB, Win XP Prof., Geforce 2 GTS, K7S5A)

What else could I do except reinstalling Windows?

Thank you for your patience.

Ruben

In order to make a clean slate after unistalling FS2004 you need to delete the FS folder where it was at. Then delete the fs9 cfg file where it is at. What you want is to recreate the folder and every thing from scratch. So when you go to create the FS folder it should tell you that the folder does not exist. If you do not get this message then you have not deleted the folder.
If you have added any scenery or air craft make sure you move those folders to a temporary place. Once FS is reinstalled you can copy the contents of the folders to FS2004
