The best way to treat dowloads is to make a seperate folder than put your downloads into it. When you unzip each file do not unzip directly into fs9 unzip anywhere other than FS9 if you have a gauge folder than copy the contents of that folder into your FS9 gauge folder. Put any effects in the effects folder, any modules would go into the module folder, the rest goes into the aircraft folder. If you have a bad gauge or missing .air file it can cause fs9 to crash. With out some other program it is going to be hard if not impossable to which gauge is bad. There are a couple of programs out there that allows you to edit panells. One is cfgedit it is freeware but it will not allow you to edit or display xml gauges & it might not be able to read all of the gauges in fs9.
The other is called Panell design studio and is payware from flightone. It will read all of fs9 gauges including the XML gauges & will also allow you to edit XML gauges.
This program is like an extension of cfgedit.
