i'm having problems...

Postby brundlefly » Fri May 28, 2004 3:21 pm

hey everyone, i need some help here please because i'm not really sure what i'm doing to say the least.... i downloaded a few of the civil jets today from this site  and i copied and pasted the main folders into the FS9/aircraft folder like the readme says but they are not showing up on the list in the game for me to select them. ??? what is really wierd is that the first one i downloaded about a week ago showed up but everything else i've tried lately is NOT and i know i have them in the right folder.

also, i was told that i can see my frames per second by pressing  shift +z  but when i do that i do not see anything like "fps" , all i see is stuff like:

59* 58.46' W141* 3746' ALT 1786 ft MSL HDG 045 93
KIAS Wind 333/00 Mag

^^^
and i'm not even sure what all of that means.lol. i'm guessing the first part is my location  then altitude and wind speed (???) but what does stuff like MSL/ HDG /KIAS/ Mag,etc. mean ?

probably dumb questions, i know, but i'm new to all of this.

thanks in advance.

If you continue to press Shift+Z, you'll see something that says FPS...those are your framerates.

As for installing aircraft, it takes some getting used to, but you'll figure it out.

Download the zip file to your desktop.

Open the zip file.  Inside you'll see a folder that says "Boeing 737" or some other plane.

Copy THAT folder (NOT the zip folder) and paste it in your aircraft folder for FS9.

9 times out of 10 people copy the zip folder, which is why nothing is showing up.

If that didn't help, let me know and I'll see what I can do.
Great edit, Bob.

Google it.

The most likeley cause of your problem is that the folder you need to paste into FS9\Aircraft is hidden inside one or more other folders.

...........or you are downloading 'textures only, original aircraft needed', in which case the 'new' textures (new livery) needs to be added into the original a/c folder per instructions that come with the new texturtes.

Cheers,
Dave
At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Mean Sea Level (altitude above)/Heading/Knots Indicated Airspeed & Magnetic.

Sorry I have to correct you there.
MSL is Mean Sea Level - your height above sea level.  :o
HDG is Heading
KIAS - Knots Indicated Air Speed
Mag is the magnitude of the wind so  282/12 means there is 12 knots of wind coming from a direction of 282 degrees.
