Welcome to te Forum.  It is possible that you have done nothing wrong.  Many aircraft are released without a virtual cockpit, if you read the Read Me file you may be able to find out.

I understand that, but all of my downloaded boeings has the exact same 2D cockpits as the existing boeings on the cd. If it's the same, why doesen't the 3D cockpit work?

It's to do with the 3D model.  The 2D panel is aliased from the other aircraft and if you like is a picture with moving parts pasted onto the forward view.

You can have any panel you like with any aircraft.  I used to fly a Cessna 172 with an F-16 panel as I liked the HUD.  The 3D cockpit is an environment built in G-Max that is an integral part of the model.  Unfortunately this cannot be aliased, only added if you have skill in 3D modelling and the source files of the aircraft.

When you are looking at d/l choices, look for a "virtual cockpit" advertised in the readup. many times, aircraft that have a virtual cockpit are very good models indeed.

You might become a bit more "choosy" though!    ;)
